Yemen,
UNFPA explore future avenues of cooperation
Abdulkareem Al-Arhabi, Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation "MPIC", and Hans Obdeijn, the UNFPA
Representative in Yemen, met to discuss the partnership between
Yemen and the UNFPA and proposals on how to enhance and develop
current links.
Al-Alarhabi and Obdeijn reviewed
the disposition and objectives of the new country program
for the UNFPA in Yemen running from 2007 through 2011. The
UNFPA’s program will coincide with the fifth Yemeni
economic development plan and aims at reducing poverty in
Yemen through effecting a change in issues related to population
growth.
Ameen Al-Janad, Secretary of the National Council for Population,
Galal Mawla, General Manager of International and Regional
Organization at "MPIC" and other officers from the
"MPIC" and the UNFPA attended the meeting.
