A meeting was held on 5th January at the Ministry of planning
and International co-operation "MOPIC" to discuss
UNFPA county program action plan "CPAP" 2007-2011
which funded by UNFPA with amount of $20 Million dollars. During
the meeting Mr.Abdulkareem Al-Arhabi the Minster of MOPIC affirm
that population growth issue is the most important issue and
it represent the big challenges for all of us. He asserted to
the rule of UNFPA as an essential part for Yemen to adopt and
reinforce population issue. And this gives us a strong point
for long-run programming and gets all resources invest them
in a good manner to achieve our goals.
Al-Arhabi called for active participation and exchange point
between partners who work in the field and between UNFPA to
come up with clear and determinant notions to serve development
and population issue in specific.
Form his side, Mr. Hans Obdeijn UNFPA representative explain
how the program function in Yemen for the coming years to enhance
population issue and implementing the plans and programs in
partnership with government to achieve the desire and hopeful
results from the program and to enhance the abilities and efforts
for all parties.
Form his part Mr.Alexander Eiline, UNFPA deputy and Dr.Saheh
Al-sheik, the UNFPA Rep-assistant, present the CPAP and the
UNFPA last activities since 2000 and its contribution to enhance
population policy through moving to decentralization to function
on rural arias and work on governorates in order to increase
health services and re-production health.
They also present program activities for the next period and
its components in reproduction health and broaden development
population and strategy to fallow up the goals of population
activities through merging population activities in sub-planes
for all parties.
During the meeting deliberations and discussions were presented
form the attendance which enrich the program.
The meeting was attended by representatives from government
and organizations and NGO's.
