A meeting was held on Sunday, October 8 at the office of the
National Population Council (NPC) between the UNFPA and its
partners. The meeting discussed the status of work plans that
are currently being implemented.
Ameen Maruf Al-Ganad, NPC secretary general, spoke about the
purpose of the meeting and the importance of holding it on a
regular basis in order to review the progress being made and if
there is any problems should be handled.

Hans Obdeijn, the UNFPA Representative in Yemen, praised the
progress that had been achieved regarding the implementation of
the current work plan. The periodically held meeting with its
partners reflects the transparency of the UNFPA’s activities,
Obdeijn said.
Alexandar Ilyin , the UNFPA Deputy Representative, spoke about
the status of current projects for the current cycle 2002-2006.
He mentioned, as well, the steps that must be taken in regards
to closing a project.
Saleh Bin Al-Sheik, the UNFPA Assistant Representative, briefed
the attendees about the progress that had been made concerning
the proposal for the next programme cycle 2007-2011. He stated
that the second draft of the Country Program Action Plan (CPAP)
had been finalized and 39 foreign governments and NGOs had
expressed their interest to be part of the plan.
