In this video, we review part of UNFPA's impactful interventions in Yemen, in partnership with USAID's Office of Humanitarian Aid to help thousands of Yemeni individuals, especially women, in safe childbirth. This is the story of Fathia, who suffered tremendous hardship before finding health care and support at Al-Sadaqa Hospital. This hospital is one of 14 hospitals supported by the United Nations Population Fund in partnership with the USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance to provides comprehensive reproductive health services free of charge.

In Yemen, people are living through the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. 23.4 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance or protection. Expectant mothers are particularly vulnerable as they face life threatening shortages for maternal health services. UNFPA has been at the forefront of the humanitarian response in Yemen. Despite the lack of funding, by the end of 2021, UNFPA's response reached nearly 2.8 million individuals with life-saving reproductive health services, protection information and services and emergency relief, with support to 127 health facilities, 51 safe spaces, nine shelters and eight specialized mental health centres.
