Hakmah and her three children were displaced from Sirwah District to Al Sumia Camp in Marib City following intense hostiles in the area.  They now live in a tent where living conditions are harsh especially during winter and the rainy season.

When Hakmah became pregnant with her fourth child, excitement turned into a nightmare. Hakmah was pregnant with triplets. The lack of reproductive health services closed to her camp and the lack of money to travel to give birth bought a lot of fear to Hakmah and her husband.

Hakmah felt increasingly unwell closer to birth and feared for life and that of her unborn children.  Her neigbours encouraged her to go to Marib General Hospital in advance, which was providing free emergency obstetric and newborn care services with the generous support of CERF.

Hakmah arrived at the hospital, 8 months pregnant with serious childbirth complications.  The medical team attended to Hakmah immediately. She underwent a successful C-section and welcomed her triplets, a boy and two girls. The newborns were placed in incubators given the premature birth.

“Thank you for helping me to overcome this tough childbirth. When I see my children alive, I feel every moment of struggle and pain was worth it,” tells a tearful Hakmah.
