UNFPA through its implementing partner, Yemen Women Union, has formed an emergency response teams in Sana'a, Aden, Ibb, Taiz and Hajjah governorates. The teams were formed based on certain criteria and consisted of five members in each governorate (a team leader, a case manager and two community volunteers). They were trained on gender-based violence and case management as per the international standards, and were formed and trained to intervene in case of emergency or when the humanitarian situation deteriorates/worsens in the governorates or any other governorate within the hub. The teams’ main responsibilities include assessment/preparation of the service providers’ directory, distribution of emergency bags, provision of case management service and initial psychological support and referral of cases to the nearest service provider. The teams will also monitor the issues of women's protection, referral of cases as well as collection of information especially on women's issues in order to provide timely response.
