calendar_today 16 November 2020

In partnership with Ministry of Public Health and Population, UNFPA conducted a two-day induction workshop in Aden on surveillance and response to maternal and perinatal deaths. A total of 70 reproductive health specialists from the governorates of Aden and Abyan attended the workshop where they discussed the importance of surveillance, response and raising awareness about the major causes of maternal deaths within the current context of an escalating conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The national guideline and the system “Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response” were also presented in the workshop. The participants agreed on a unified template to be used in the hospitals for monitoring of maternal deaths. Three hospitals in Aden, Abyan and Mukallah were selected for piloting.

Last month, 77 reproductive health specialists from different district in Hadramout participated in a similar workshop.
