UNFPA-led Rapid Response Mechanism Activated as Floods Hit Yemen

Torrential rains and flooding since mid-April impacted more than 100,000 people across Yemen. Flooding has damaged roads, bridges and the electricity grid, and contaminated water supplies, cutting access to basic services for thousands of people. Conditions are hardest for thousands of families already displaced who have now lost shelter, food rations and household supplies.

In response, the UNFPA-led UN Rapid Response Mechanism was activated.  More than 5,000 flood-affected individuals in Sana’a. Aden City in the schools of Crater and Mukala and Ibb were assisted. A kit includes, ready to eat food provided by WFP, hygiene kits provided by UNICEF and women dignity kit provided by UNFPA.
