The State of Yemen’s Population 2019 report was launched in Sana’a by the National Population Council in collaboration with UNFPA.

The report focuses on population conditions in light of the current conflict and deteriorating economy, social services, and human life.

The national report highlights progress in the implementation and achievements of the goals set out at the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development, in the area of education, health, gender equality and empowerment of women, as well as youth and the elderly and makes recommendations for the future.

“We seek, during the next year, to narrow the gap that occurred as a result of the conflict and the to overcome the negative indicators for population issues, especially in reproductive health where Yemen had made remarkable progress prior to the war.” Said Mutahr Zabara, Assistant Secretary-General of NPC.
