Aden, Yemen – “We are a dedicated group of 70 newly graduated doctors and soon-to-be graduates, volunteering as part of mobile youth clinics, “tells Dr. Sharaf, Awareness Raising Coordinator of the mobile youth clinics.

Youth mobile clinics, supported by UNFPA are aiming to raising awareness among young people by engaging with them in universities, parks, institutes, and other common gathering places, to promote health education to help young people safeguard their health, well-being and improve their quality of life.

“As young professionals ourselves, we have the unique ability to connect with our peers, breaking down barriers around sensitive health issues that might otherwise be difficult to address. We make it our priority to meet young people where they are, ensuring they have easy access to vital health information and services,” adds Dr. Sharaf.

Dr. Iman, serves as the psychological support officer in the mobile youth clinics, helping to provide counselling and mental health support to young people through the mobile clinics.

“Our mobile team has successfully connected with young people in a remarkably short time, achieving high levels of effectiveness and acceptance,” tells Dr. Iman.

“What sets our approach apart is the smooth and considerate way we deliver health services, especially in sensitive areas like reproductive health. We ensure that our services are discreet and respectful, so young people can access them without hesitation or concern about how it might be perceived by their peers. This has created a safe and welcoming environment where young people feel comfortable and valued, knowing these services are tailored specifically for them,” she adds,

“As a young doctor, I feel incredibly proud and fulfilled to be part of this impactful team, contributing to the well-being and health of my generation." Dr. Iman states with pride.

The youth mobile clinics, launched in September 2024, consist of mobile health teams and youth health volunteers who operate across Aden, Taizz, Seiyun and Al Mukallah Governorates. Currently, four clinics are operational, offering services ranging from health education to on-the-spot medical care.

Since the launch, more than 15,000 individuals have been reaching by these clinics, playing a crucial role in improving youth health outcomes and promoting well-being within their communities.
