“I will not allow despair. I will overcome all difficulties.”

Nabila is a mother of two daughters. Her beginning was difficult due to family problems and her husband’s family not accepting her and her daughters and considering her like a maid who only does household chores.

I was abused by them, whether verbally or psychologically. This greatly affected her psyche, and she began to feel depressed, constant anxiety, and self-flagellation, which led to her breaking down and crying continuously. Her husband decided to move to another place to alleviate this suffering and search for stability. Her family moved to another governorate. But there were more ordeals, as the war broke out and her husband was injured in the spine, causing him paralysis that led to his inability to move. After that, the story of displacement and pain began for her and her family.

That husband changed and became very bad-tempered and foul-mouthed, not treating her well at all. She is exposed to constant abuse and obscene language. But her options were limited to either bearing all of this or being deprived of her daughters.

She decided to begin the stage of searching for survival and was displaced to Marib Governorate. She was the breadwinner for her family, sometimes looking for a living and sometimes looking for treatment for her disabled husband.

Nabila searched for a place that would restore her psychological stability, which had always made her weak and quick to break down, cry, and enter a state of depression and fear of integrating with others. She also sought to acquire a professional skill and craft that would help her provide a source of income. By attending an awareness session in the camp where she lives, she came to the safe space in the hope of obtaining what she searched for so much.

Her condition was managed and individual psychosocial support sessions and legal consultations were provided, and she was among the beneficiaries in the field of training and qualification for the hairdresser and cosmetology course.

She benefited greatly during her attendance and receiving individual psychological support sessions, as her psychology changed and she began to feel happy and spread hope to those around her. Her husband's health condition improved and he began to move one of his feet. She was distinguished in training by her beautiful performance, as her love for that field made her excel and launch herself into the world of hairdressing and cosmetology.

Today, Nabila owns her own hairdressing and beauty business, which she established in part of her small tent. She is now living happily and has become an icon of persistence and determination to be emulated.

Thanks for the safe space that restores the colors of happiness in the lives of many women. Today, those women have become stronger and more stable thanks to the efforts of the safe space.
